black german shepherd kennels
what can I do with my dog in the mornings? I have to go to school and my mom is to busy to take care of her?

I just adopted an eight month old black german shepherd and she likes to destroy things ( couch cushions, shoes, etc.) I don’t mind watching her at all but i have to go to school from 7:45 to 2:15 and my parents are to busy to watch her. I could get a kennel but I don’t think I should keep her in there for so long. What should I do?

Obviously if you cant take care of the dog and your mother wont care for it, then you obviously arent able to have a dog. You may have to see if the shelter will take it back. I surprised a shelter let you adopt it, they dont usually adopt out unless everyone in the household agrees to a dog. My dogs however stay in kennels sometimes during the day and they dont mind but not that many hours.
Maybe you get a fenced backyard if you dont have one already and keep the dog in the backyard like youre supposed to since its obviously a large breed and they are awfully big to be kept inside anyway?

if you breed a shephard with?

white german Shepherd dog ,, with a black Shepherd do you get spotted pups or solid colors?

There’s no such thing as a “shephard”.

On the basis of the tiny scrap of information you’ve given us, for the GSDs all or some of the answers could be yes, or no, or maybe.

Although there is an occasional GSD with the dominant K^B for self-black, I am convinced that its pedigree includes an unrecorded cross-breeding. All self-coloured GSDs are supposed to have the recessive a^ a^ pairing.

Whereas self-white is caused by 2 pairs of recessives.
In all breeds tested so far the e^ e^ pairing is one of them, and it “turns off the tap” that puts eumelanin (black pigment) into each hair. The other pairing has not yet been DNA-identified in GSDs, so in the meantime some of us use the c^d c^d coding postulated before DNA reading was possible – we now know that the C series is the wrong locus for the chemical effect required, which is “turning off the tap” that puts phaeomelanin (tan pigment) into each hair.

The important thing for you to know is that the factor for self-black and the factors for self-white are different genes, at totally different loci.

The effect is that we have NO idea what pattern & colour genes the white possesses, because ALL its pigment has been turned off.
We know that the self-black is a^ a^, but we don’t know whether it is E^m E^m or E^m E^ or E^m e^ or E^ E^ or E^ e^ (it cannot be e^ e^ as that would prevent it from being black). Nor do we know what it possesses at the locus that switches off tan pigment.

If the white carries an a^ but the black doesn’t carry e^ or the other allele (the one we temporarily call c^d), then about half the pups could be black.
If the black carries e^ plus whatever c^d really is, then about half the pups could be white.

However, based on the pattern alleles that tend to exist in self-whites and in self-blacks, half the pups are likely to be wolf-sables, half the pups saddle-marked, although it is possible that from a quarter to all the litter could be self-black. Just as half the litter could be self-white. Whatever tan colour appears in the pups is likely to end up silvery white on the insides of the thighs and the underbelly and “feathers” by the time they are adults.

White spots come from yet another gene series. Obviously you can’t see them on a white dog.
In GSDs they most commonly occur as a chest spot, but may also appear as one or more white toes or a few white hairs at the tip of the tail – those are regarded as a failure of pigment-cell migration in-utero rather than as a genetic flaw, and can be forgiven provided the nails are black. But if a spot appears on the side or face of the dog, or is large enough to give the GSD a white “sock”, that is a fault.

Your question has been asked many times, as you would have discovered had you used the Search tool. Read http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArahA.utPqGJ4tNq0TN95rjty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090108035732AAa7Jg7&show=7#profile-info-winPTRh9aa for a more complete answer.

[Jen]: That http://jmadesign.com/Frankenhaus/colorgen01.shtml site is hopelessly out of date and doesn’t even follow the convention of placing the more dominant allele ahead of the more recessive allele when writing pairs.
Anyone wanting to keep up with the genetics of GSDs should belong to at least one (maybe all 3) of:

plus keep checking in DNA-research sites such as Sheila Schmutz’s and at veterinary universities such as U.C.Davis.

I am wondering what dog to get?

I have kids(7 and 8) and two cats( a kitten and adult).
My cats have no problem with dogs. In fact, they probably like them better than other cats. They are both Bengals.
We live alone so i am interested in a large dog.
More to make us all feel more comfortable than actual use. I need it to be great with kids and cats.
I am planning on getting it as a puppy and training it well.
So far I have narrowed it down to few breeds that I find adorable and from what i’ve read good for guarding and very loyal.
An American White German Shepherd, a Chinook, or a Black Mouth Cur.
Any suggestions or advice?
An Akita is also appealing to me.

The GSD is not accepted white nor is it a separate breed. An akita is NOT FOR A NEW OWNER.

Go to your local shelter and look at the GSD and GSD mixes. Have the shelter cat test them and see how they are with your kids. But really you should consider hair, activity level, size of your home/yard and your lifestyle. Any medium-large or large breed dog will be a good deterrant.

Cultural Figures as Gifts

For the holidays, cherubs and angels in the form of figurines, ornaments, statues, and even sitting at the top of the Christmas tree are a time-honored, classic gift. These cultural figures have been adored for centuries because of what they symbolize to the people who collect them.

Most of our representations of cherubs consist of chubby babies with adorable faces and little wings, frolicking up in the clouds, occasionally shooting an arrow of love into the hearts of lovers. In the Bible, cherubs are actually the size of full grown men with wings.  People who are drawn to cherubs associate them with Cupid and love.  They symbolize innocence, and perhaps a touch of fate. In the Bible, angels are messengers of God; archangels are warriors doing God’s bidding, and they serve as the middleman between human beings and God.  Angels have a similar appeal to us as cherubs.  In pictures, sculptures, and stories, angels stand for someone pure who is watching over us. Sometimes they stand for someone we loved who died young or unexpectedly and therefore watches over us from above in heaven. When we give someone an angel as a gift, it stands for the protection we wish to bestow upon them.

A very popular way to top off the Christmas tree is with an ornate angel with the inside of the bottom of her dress hollowed out, so as to fit on top of the Douglas fir. Many people collect angel and cherub figurines; Precious Moments and Thomas Kinkade are among the top collected sets. Willow Tree collectible angels from and cherubs, made by Hallmark, are among the most varied and expressive angels; their blank faces and varied positions and props make them a touching and versatile gift.

Another excellent choice for adorable collectibles as gifts is the Sherrat & Simpson line of dogs and cats collectibles.  These tiny, intricate sculptures are as varied as they are detailed; there are many brands from which to choose, such as a bulldog, Jack Russell terrier, or German Shepherd. The Sherrat & Simpson brand also branches out to other precious animals; you can find a black bear, a lion cub and even a seal and pup.

If you’re buying gifts for those who aren’t particularly sentimental, but still have the desire to collect something spiritual, there are voodoo dolls.  Voodoo dolls are as old as slavery, as they came into existence with the Voodoo religion in New Orleans, Lousiana and partly from the Voodoo religion in Haiti. Voodoo dolls originated as messengers to the afterlife when someone who was still alive wanted to contact those who had passed away.  The general perception today is that Voodoo dolls are used to get revenge on someone who has harmed or disadvantaged the owner of the doll.  In movies and pop culture, voodoo dolls were made with a lock of hair or something the person owned and then stabbed, beaten or otherwise harmed in order to exact the revenge.  In either case, they are a great collector’s item for strong believers or novelty gift for casual collectors.

There are “authentic” New Orleans Voodoo dolls that start around $27.00 and can go upwards of $250.00. www.igiftToys.com is a terrific place to start. For the collector who isn’t interested in authenticity or revenge, the Dayu series of Voodoo dolls are an excellent choice.  They are made in China and are whimsical, cute dolls.  There are several series of Dayu Voodoo dolls, such as the “Love me Tender” series, the “Sooth Healing” series and the “Angelic Devil series.”

where can i buy a pure black german shepherd?

and how much do they cost??

You can find them at:

kijiji.com or .ca if you live in Canada

They have a variety of dogs there and it is a very active site.

German sheperds who are pure would probably cost around 500-700$

A mix would be around 300-400$

Hope this helped!!

Black German Shepherd Lab Mix

Which dog foods & treats have no whey in them?

My 3 year old German Shepherd/Black Lab mix girl, Butterscotch, was recently diagnosed with allergies to cats, ragweed, & whey (she reacted most severely to this allergen). Her vet wants her on Science Diet, but I would like to research all sorts of options. Thanks!
We live near Chicago, IL.

Hello I also have a dog that has allergies to ragweed and whey and tons more including grass! Yes grass! She also is allergic to chicken. My other dog has allergies to several foods. Like all grains!

The last thing I would put my dogs on is Science Diet!! That is a nasty food! Here is what I suggest! With her having an allergy to whey I would really go with a grain free food!

EVO
Taste of the wild
solid gold – barking at the moon

I am feeding solid gold right now and my dogs love it! They are both 95lb and I only feed 2 cups a day!
I cant feed taste of the wild because there is chicken in all but one!

Any of the 6 star food on the web site will be where I would start!

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/

Also your vet does and will tell that all of these food to not compare to science Diet. But that is because he gets paid to tell you that! 99% of vet don’t have a clue about what is and is not good food! I would maybe see if you can find a holistic vet and see what they say!

And for treats I give freeze dried beef liver I can get from pet smart!

Black German Shepherd Stud

black german shepherd stud
german shepherd.?

again why can’t i stud my dog if he has white shepherd in his bloodlines? he is not white not even a bit discolored he is black and tan and who ever said he would be stupid or a bad police dog your stupid at 16 weeks he was recomended for the search and rescue training and recomended for the bomb sniffing traing he is a heck of a lot smarter and looks a hundred times better then this over priced great bloodlines other german shepherd i have when people come visit or they go to the vet everyone always thinks that the cheep dog is the pricey dog and the over priced dog is the cheep dog. and as for the akc i think they would register any dog mutt or not they just want there money.

You can’t stud your dog because he will throw white puppies given that he has white in him. Do you know anything about genetics? Has he been OFA’d free of hip dysplasia? Elbow dysplasia? Has he had a brucellosis test? What about his conformation? Does he have his championship? If he’s good enough to breed, he’s good enough to have it because the only acceptable reason to breed is to improve the breed!

Does he have even the first obedience degree? Has he done any search and rescue? Or tracking? Or anything else to prove his superior intellect?

Did his breeder have the foresight to put him on a limited registration so any puppies he sires can never be registered? All kinds of reasons why you can’t “stud” this dog, the least of which would be that you don’t seem to know what you’re doing.
