Help?! Training my dog. Siberian husky.?

Okay well I have a siberian husky mix, she acts much like a husky. I think she’s mixed in with german shepherd.
She is very friendly
VERY crazy. One of the most active dogs i seen. She loves to chew. I don’t know what to do with her! I have completely no idea how to train her. She knows how to sit, down, stay, and high five. She won’t come back when i ask her, and when i play fetch with her(one of her favorite games, she doesn’t bring the object back!?)
after she takes a bath, she goes ballistic.
she’s got a bit better although
any help

Im a Professional Dog Trainer for PetSmart and i would definitely recommend some classes for your husky mix. I’ve dealt with a lot of hyper active dogs like yours..for fetch you can get a regular tennis ball puncture a hole and tie a string in it, therefore when you throw the ball you can reel her back in to you. In our class we go over voice cues such as sit, stay, come, down, etc. We also get rid of bad habits such as chewing, barking, jumping, pulling on the leash. Socialization is a BIG part of our class that will help you out greatly. Don’t worry everything will be fine your dog is in her Juvenile state of mind and will mellow down as she matures.

German shepherd please?

OK this may be a bit hard to find but I will be so thankful for anyone who can find this! Okay I need a German Shepherd that’s:
Potty trained
Not a puppy
good with kids
good with other animals(such as cats)
partially trained(doesn’t have to be but would help)
Oh and it has to be around the Houston Texas area

Thank you soo much to anyone who finds this!!!

Oh and one more thing not too pricey it doesnt have to be a purebred

Have you tried your local shelter or rescue?
Many of the dogs they have are housebroken, good with children/pets, go through at *least* basic training [depends on how long they've been there], come with a vet check and testing for HW, spayed/neutered, and sometimes either a microchip, or a discount on one.

I need some training tips for German Shepherd Puppy!?

I just got a new German Shepherd pup. He is almost 8 weeks old. I have had him about a week. I am having a few problems with him and hope someone out there can help. First, he got his first bath yesterday, It was awful for him and me. He howled like he was dying the entire time. I tried giving him pieces of treats to make him associate it with something good. He didn’t care about that. I really want him to like the bath cause he will be kept inside and will obviously need one from time to time. Any suggestions on how to make it a more pleasant experience for him. Also he is very mouthy, whenever you play or pet him he is nipping at you. Those little needle teeth hurt. Any suggestions on how to correct either problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Water was warm, about like you would use to bath a baby. Normally I would have waited awhile longer for him to get used to everything, but he was kinda smelly!

You went too quickly. If I was in a scary new house with scary new people, I’d be freaked out by being plunged into water and manhandled, too.

Go slower. First, just introduce him to the bath tub. Just plop him in and give him some really tasty treats. You can feed him some meals in the tub and bring his favorite toy. It takes time to build a positive association, so spend some time! You should not even bring water into the equation until he’s completely and totally unfazed by being in the tub. Then, you can add in the water. It should be a comfortable warm temperature and very light, don’t turn it on full-force. Repeat the introduction process, just hang out with him there and give him special treats for being brave while the water trickles. When he’s comfortable with that, turn the water on more. Sprinkle him with it. Douse him with it. Really get him wet. Add shampoo into the mix. Of course, these are all separate steps. Go slowly, there’s no rush! Move at his pace, don’t advance to the next step until he’s totally fine with the current step.

Don’t skimp on the treats, either, that will help no one. Really reward him for being good! Use “THE” treat, whatever he loves the most. Chicken, hot dog, cheese, peanut butter, find the magic treat.

If he’s showing signs of fear or anxiety, though, do not reward him. You don’t want to nurture his fear. Ignore all signs of fear, don’t coddle him.

Remember to stay calm and positive. Dogs definitely pick up on our emotions, and if you’re feeling even the slightest bit nervous, he will be, too.

Don’t worry about the mouthing, he’s a puppy. It’s what they do. It’s completely, totally, one hundred percent normal and expected. Here’s my favorite method of teaching bite inhibition:

Good luck!

If I can’t adopt retired police dogs, where can I get a qualified puppy and attend training classes with them?

I really want a well trained German Shepherd. I am willing to invest the money and time to develope that special bond!

The real question here is well trained for *what*? If you just want a great pet who is well trained, or a competition obedience dog then there is no need to “invest” vast quantities of money and there’s no such thing as a “qualified” puppy. If all you’re looking for is a fantastic pet or a competition obedience dog you really don’t even NEED a puppy as an adult GSD adopted from a rescue could just as easily fit the bill. The most important thing to achieve a well trained dog is patience and consistent training. The best thing about consistent and patient training is that this is the sort of thing that will help you develop that special bond.

If you really want to do schutzhund or some other similar type of training with your GSD, then that is when you will need to be very picky about the puppy or dog that you look for as these sports require a very mentally stable dog with a very specific temperament.

If you have your heart set on a puppy, then you need to look for a reputable breeder who shows their dogs not only in confirmation shows but also in working disciplines (like obedience, herding, schutzhund, search and rescue, etc). In addition to titles that prove their dogs are worth breeding, a good breeder will do a variety of health tests on all of their breeding stock.

Have a 4 month old German Shepherd mix. She’s afraid of basically everything except dogs, please help!?

I do no use any harsh training methods or “corrections”. Me and my whole family are always loving to her and I make sure no1 teases her. When I left for Cape Town, my dad left her in the house for a whole month. When I returned, i tried taking her for walks and stuff, but she’s always stressed out during walks and only wants to return home.:(

Your dog has missed her most important socialization period. Take her for walks in and around the yard have strangers and friends hand her rewards. Have them on you so they are handy. AS she becomes comfortable then take her a bit further. Start w/baby steps. When walking keep something she likes a toy or treat in your hand and let her concentrate on getting it as you go a bit further.
Open car doors and let her in and out, then when she becomes more acclimated take her for a 2 minute ride in and out the driveway only. Then after a few weeks fo further.
Also invite a friend over let the dog go to them since they will have a treat or toy she likes. Do not let people approach over her and reach for her let her do it to build her confidence.
Re assure once but do not make a fuss or overly reassure because because feels she has reasons to be afraid and that validates her fears..I know it is hard as she makes progress but trust me it is best for her! Also YOU feel confident she senses your hesitations also.
Expose ehr slowly to all new things she should have been exposed to as a smaller baby..patience and time!
