German Shepherd/Lab Mix?

I am possibly going to be getting a German Shepherd/Black Lab mix soon. I already know all the basics of owning a dog since I have owned dogs before.
What kind of a personality does a German Shepherd/Lab have? If it is a mix, would it still be protective like a purebred German Shepherd? And which is usually better, a male or a female? Would it get along well with other dogs and children?
Sorry for the many questions! Any information is fine, or some good websites with info!
:)

Thank you in advance!

Number 1; Because its a mix, no set standard or personality. It could look like a shepherd and act like a labrador, it could look like a labrador and act like a shepherd or could have behaviours of both breeds.Remember a well obedienced trainned puppy/or adult, that also been socialised with both people and other dog, will be friendly 99% of the time and will realise when it needs to be protective. A unsocialised dog and untrainned dog won’t know the difference when to be protective and will likely bite anything and anyone.

2 things are guaranteed
-this mix is guarantee be highly energetic
-Will shed like anything as both breeds are average shedders.

Number 2; If purchased from a petstore, backyard breeder, puppy mills-prone to aggression, behavioural problems and genetic faults.

Number 3; to avoid the aggression in this mix, adopt from a shelter/pound.

German shepherd/boxer or German shepherd lab mix?

Which is better GSD/Lab or GSD/Boxer what are they like…athletic, nice, family, good with new pets…ect.

I’m partial to a GSD/lab mix. My family and I had our GSD/lab mix for 15 great years. Best dog anyone could have asked for. We got him as a puppy and when he was about 6, my sister was born. He was excellent with her and then eventually my youngest sister that came around. There was an incident where my mother had no idea my sister, a toddler at the time, knew how to work the garage door and got out. My dog (who was not allowed up the stairs) went upstairs barked at my mother, ran back outside to check my sister (we assume) and then ran up and my mother finally figured out that something was wrong and followed him to get my sister. We also added a cat to the family and they used to sleep with each other and I kid you not, they would play chase where the cat would chase the dog.

With that not all mixes are alike and you will get surprises however others that have had a GSD/lab mix have loved them and if I could, I would go to a shelter and get one in a heartbeat. We have two purebreds now and they are beyond idiotic compared to my GSD/lab mix. Maybe we just got lucky, but he was the ideal dog for our family and I associate a GSD and lab as what an ideal dog should be.

Get the one best suited for you though!
