german shepherd sickness
dog sickness question?

I have a 5 month old German Shepherd puppy. Tonight I took him to my warehouse when I was doing some work. On my way back he threw up in the back of my cargo van. I think it is just the motion and noise the van makes, he is fine in my SUV. I have a 2 hour trip to the breeders house tomorrow and don’t have time to stop by the vets. Is there anything I can get for him that will help with that? Will he grow out of it?

You may want to try :::
Found this online—
Static grounding strap – A final remedy for carsickness. It works for pets and people – guaranteed. Attach a rubber strip to the bottom of the car. It must be long enough to hang on the ground, eliminating the static electricity while driving. I took a bungee cord. It works like magic.

I know people who give their pets Dramamine around an hour before they are to leave but you need to check with your vet first b4 doings this you must get the right dosage please do not try to dose on your own.

Also do not feed or give any water for 2 or more hours yu want nothing on their belly b4 a car ride. Also lots of air helps keep a window open or windows but not down enough your dog could junp out but enough to get just his head or nose out.

Hope this helps

Bloat Do You Know How To Spot This Common Dog Ailment?

Dog Bloat is a sickness that strikes millions of dogs without warning each year. It moves fast and without the proper diagnosis and treatment many dogs die.  The problem with dog bloat is that most dog owners do not know what symptoms to look for or how to respond if their dog visibly has symptoms.  This is an absolutely horrific and painful way to die, so join us as we discuss what bloat is and how you can learn to recognize and respond to the symptoms.

Bloat begins by causing an excessive amount of gas to build up in the stomach.  This causes the stomach to twist itself 180 degrees around and even a full 360 degrees from the esophagus down to the bottom of the stomach.  What this does is stop the blood flow to that part of the body and causes the tissue to die off.

This is where identifying the symptoms becomes crucial and demands timeliness.  Many specific breeds are known to have a bigger risk at developing bloat. Often they are larger breeds such as German Shepherds, Bloodhound, Great Dane, Akita, St. Bernard, Golden Retriever, Irish Setter and Doberman.

You may be thinking dog bloat is something that will never occur with your dog but statistics clearly show that bloat is the second leading cause of dog deaths and is second only to cancer!

There are many symptoms that may appear with bloat, so you will have to be diligent in observing you dog.  Start by looking for restlessness and anxiety.  Look to see if they are vomiting or have the dry heaves or even if they are attempting to vomit.  Are they whining, drooling, swollen abdomen, no digestive sounds or rumbling of the stomach?  Monitor their breathing for difficulty, increased heart rate and any weakness or collapsing.

Other factors that can influence dog bloat are your dogs age.  Older dogs tend to be more susceptible.  Underweight dogs, dogs that are hyper or anxious or dogs that are aggressive in nature are often prone to developing bloat.  So if a dog eats to fast or they skip a meal they potentially are more likely to develop dog bloat.  It is suggested that you spread their meals out to two or three small meals a day.

I personally believe in free feeding if it’s done correctly. A dog that is allowed to eat what they naturally need from the very beginning and is given a good quality food source will not overeat or eat like they are starving because they know the food source is always there for them to access. There is no need for them to pig out and eat it all in one setting when they can come back later and eat if they need to. I do want to point out that this does not work for all dogs and you may need to pick the bowl up if your dog overeats.

As we discussed above, if your dog has symptoms, you absolutely have to get them to the vets immediately.  Treating the dog bloat is the only chance at saving their life.  To treat the bloat, your vet will start by inserting a tube into the wall of the stomach.  This removes the excess gas.  After the gas is removed, the vet finishes operating on the stomach and untwisting it.

Should the dog continue to show signs of bloat following the surgery, then a second set of treatment procedures will be started.  These start with treating the shock symptoms your dog displays by hydrating them and allowing them to rest and treating any other complications that may pop up.

Because Doctors and Scientist have not actually come up with the exact cause of dog bloat, it is impossible to prevent.  However, since we do know some facts, you can implement a few prevention techniques.  Do not overfeed your dog or allow them to overeat in a single setting.  If your dog continues to overeat, then start giving them smaller amounts of food 2 or 3 times a day.

They do not recommend using elevated food or watering dishes and you should be adding enzyme supplements to your dog’s food to assist with digestion.  Limit their water intake right after they are finished eating.  Always keep your local veterinarian’s phone number hand and current for emergencies.

There is really nothing you can do to prevent bloat except to educate yourself and watch for the symptoms.  Then you will know how to diagnose and react should your dog ever begin to exhibit signs of bloat.

REMEMBER – Do NOT wait to get treatment for your dog!  This is the precious window of time that can save your dog’s life.  This is not the time to debate whether or not you want to pay for that vet call.  Acting promptly can save your dog’s life.

A few months ago I left the business world to pursue my passion of working with animals while trying to improve my health. To do this, I am using my 20+ years experience as a dog breeder and pet owner. I also spent several years working for a well known veterinarian and national vet supply company. I have a B.S. I love to include stories about my spoiled rotten pups – you never know what antics they’ll pull next! We also have two all but grown beautiful teenage daughters that we love very much. A true story in rhyme. What do you think?

I know a man who walks around
With a black spider on his chest
It’s huge and made of rubber
(Why? That’s anyone’s guess)
Sometimes just to make a change
He’ll leave the big spider at home
And carry a large stuffed Alsation*
Which he pretends to feed with a bone.

He’s always very jolly
He chats happily to everyone
What is insanity, anyway?
He’s the one who’s having fun.

(He is almost always at a car-boot we visit on Sundays..the stuffed dog rides on his shoulders like a child!)
*German Shepherd dog
Damn – I knew Alsation didn’t look right – but I was too lazy to check it out.

He sounds very *special*. (In the words of your daughter-in-law.)
Fun reading Grannyjill!

Repost–What are you getting your?

Let’s do this again…sorry it was reported as chat, has been deemed was not……..

On the Twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me……

Twelve Dalmatians a drumming
Eleven Spaniels sleeping
Ten Magnificent Mutts
Nine Poodles a Prancing
Eight Rottweilers Ringing
Seven Labs a Leaping
Six German Shepherds Guarding
Five Golden Retrievers a wiggling
Four Beagles a Begging
Three Dachshunds a Dashing
Two Terriers Toasting
and a Pomeranian in a Pear Tree

Legit:::1—What are you getting your dog or dogs for Christmas,

2—and have you hung up their Christmas Stockings yet…..

3-do you get your dog a stocking every year…

4–and which part of the poem best suits your dog or dogs.

1. I still havnt thought of what Im getting Rocco. Am I a bad owner or what?

Rocco loves adventures and is not food oriented so I’ll plan a special day out for us instead. I live at the beach so thats where we’ll be I guess. I just want to have a good time with Rocco, spending a day at the beach means more to Rocco than anything, he’s not a *toy or treat* dog!

2. No stockings!

3. Ive never bought stocking for me, let alone Rocco! Im not traditional. I live in Oz and I just dont bother with any of that here. Its going to be stinking hot so the less time I spend in the house the better.

4. I dont see a mention of Staffies in your poem Iggs!!!

Any suggestions for removing a large tick from my German Shepherd’s mouth?

It is on the outside of his lip. It apparently has been there for quite a while, as it is quite large. It is very difficult to hold him still and he is very protective of that area. I think it probably hurts him. He licks off anything that we have tried to put on it.

If he wont be still i wouldnt try to pull it off with tweezers or with your hands. You dont want the ticks mouth parts to stay inside the lip because an infection could occur. What you could do, is get you some flea/tick spray at petsmart (adams flea/tick spray works well) then spray some onto a qtip and rub it close to the ticks head. Such a small amount will not harm your dog if ingested, and it should kill the tick almost immediately, causing it to fall off. Good luck!

Selecting the Right Breed of Dog

While there are no essential personality differences between the sexes of dogs, there is no doubt that some personality variations exist among the various breeds. Though rather minor, they are significant enough so that they should be inquired into in order that the particular breed can meet individual needs. This fact may be of special importance where there are children in the household. The disposition of an animal certainly must be compatible with the personality of the child. Some breeds have a tendency to be peppy, alert, excitable, or noisy, while others are generally quiet, lazy, or phlegmatic. Some are more likely to become one-man dogs, while others seem to want to encompass the whole world in their sphere.

There are, however, enough breeds to satisfy almost any requirement. Once the breed has been definitely decided upon, it is advisable to get in touch with a recognized kennel club agency. It is especially important that the breeder be highly recommended, for occasionally breeders have been guilty of dishonest practices, though these are the exception rather than the rule. In the final analysis, however, there are reliable and unreliable dealers in all fields and the discretion of the purchaser must ultimately decide the issue.

When the animal is purchased, a ten-day trial should be insisted upon, in order to have time to get veterinary certification of good health, and to ascertain whether the animal is of suitable disposition – that is, to find out whether the animal gets along with your family. The reliable breeder will agree unhesitatingly to such a reasonable request. Less reliable breeders will agree to a trial of only 24 to 48 hours. Since latent diseases often do not arise for several days, and since it usually takes more than a couple of days to decide whether an animal’s disposition is suitable, the prospective owner is advised to proceed with extreme caution when he has only a day or two to make his final decision.

A reference list of the recognized breeds of dogs follows. The various breeds were developed to adapt these animals to different activities; to learn to distinguish one breed from another; the best method is to attend dog shows. The official publications of the American Kennel Club give detailed information on the history and standards of the various breeds.

The American Kennel Club recognizes six major classes of dog breeds, as follows:

Group one: sporting dogs.

Griffon: Wirehaired-Pointing. Pointer: German Shorthaired. Retrievers: Chesapeake Bay, Curly-Coated, Flat-Coated, Golden, Labrador. Setters: English, Gordon, Irish. Spaniels: Brittany, Clumber, Cocker, English Springer, Field, Irish Water, Sussex, Welsh Springer.

Group two: sporting dogs, hounds.

Afghan, Basset, Beagle, Bloodhound, Borzoi, Dachshund, Deer-hound (Scottish), Foxhound (American), Foxhound (English), Greyhound, Harrier, Norwegian Elkhound, Otterhound, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Saluki, Whippet, Wolfhound (Irish), Wolfhound (Russian).

Group three: working dog.

These include some of the largest breeds in the dog world. They are best suited to being used as guard dogs for police or army purposes, watchdogs, herding dogs, sled dogs, etc.

Alaskan Malamute, Belgian Sheepdog, Bernese Mountain Dog, Bouvier des Flandres, Boxer, Briard, Bull-Mastiff, Collie (Rough), Collie (Smooth), Doberman Pinscher, Eskimo, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Komondor, Kuvasz, Mastiff, Newfoundland, Old English Sheepdog, Puli, Rottweiler, Samoyede, Schnauzer (Giant), Shetland Sheepdog, Siberian Huskie, St. Bernard, Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), Welsh Corgi (Pembroke).

Group four: terriers.

These breeds have a sporting background. They are adapted to hunting small game, especially where a considerable amount of digging is required.

Airedale, Bedlington, Border, Bull, Cairn, Dandie Dinmont, Fox (Smooth), Fox (Wirehaired), Irish, Kerry Blue, Lakeland, Lhasa, Manchester, Norwich, Schnauzer (Miniature), Schnauzer (Standard), Scottish, Sealyham, Skye, Staffordshire, Welsh, West Highland White.

Group five: toys.

These have been bred as novelty dogs and have no work or sporting function.

Affenpinscher, Chihuahua, English Toy Spaniel, Griffon (Brussels), Italian Greyhound, Japanese Spaniel, Maltese, Mexican Hairless, Papillon, Pekingese, Pinscher (Miniature), Pomeranian, Pug, Toy Manchester Terrier, Toy Poodle, Yorkshire Terrier.

Group six: nonsporting.

While some of these breeds have a sporting, guard-dog or hunting background, they are now bred mainly as pets. They include some of the most distinctive and handsome animals in the world of dogs.

Boston Terrier, Bulldog, Chow Chow, Dalmatian, French Bulldog, Keeshonden, Poodle, Schipperke.

german shepherd climate
My german shepherd dog is outside 24/7!?

I live in a really cold climate …it’s around minus 20 Celsius sometimes, but normally about -10 to -5.

My 5-month-old puppy LOVES it outside all the time. She loves the snow, chews on ice, loves her dog house…
her dog house is insulated…and she won’t stay indoors!
I try to keep her in, but she wants to go out…and she stays out!
This is her first winter, too…should I be worried?
She’s been out for 21 days straight…and sleeps well at night and plays in the yard all day in the snow!

Any suggestions to this first-time dog owner!
thanks.

She is telling you the answer already! Why worry?

Let her stay out – she will grow a winter coat, if she hasn’t already, and that will protect her totally adequately from the cold. It’s not many generations ago that dogs were wolves and of course they were always outside. She is behaving totally naturally.

I know of a great dog that needs a home part german shepherd and lab how do you find a k9 unit to take him?

the dog is black about 7 months old friendly great with kids is in a place too small for him he needs something to do.

On the internet are many sites of dogs who train K9 for various types of work, such as at:

http://www.k9trainers.com/

However they usually have many offers such as you are suggesting and most dogs are not suited for such work. Finding a good home yourself is another step and you can use services such as Pet Finders at:

http://www.petfinder.com/

However, you might be better off to find local placement organizations that take such dogs and find new homes for them. These can be found in the newspaper or through your local humane society or a local dog club representing the American Kennel Club or even going to the local library information department which often has a listing of local organizations.

German Shepherd Lab Mix Puppy?

I’m wondering how big a German Shepherd/Lab mix puppy would get? I’m thinking of adopting one and the one i have in mind is 3 months old and 28 pounds. Thanks!

The thing about a mix is you don’t know. The best you can do is look up the two breed standards and round it off to somewhere in between the two. Keep in mind however that someone who allowed their dog to mix together likely may not have a dog within the standard. It also will depends somewhat on the gender of the pup.

At that rate, likely near 70-80lbs.

Role of Keywords in Title Tags

Writing articles daily will get you in the practice of writing. You can then submit these articles to the article directories so that people can easily find you and your topic on Google and the other large search engines.

Giving the fact that Google looks at the density of your keywords on the page this means that you can’t use too many keyword phrases on a page. And this is common sense : you can’t target too many keywords. I usually target one main keyword phrase and along with it I also target at most two secondary keywords.

My clients shut down as their creative process gets overwhelmed with technical garbage. It’s better just to say to them that whenever you use text, try to use your keywords. That should be enough…and it is.

You can now easily find videos, photos, forums, and reviews which are directly related to your German shepherd keyword research. You can easily see what the search results have been through as far back as a year and as recently as 24 hours ago. Take a few minutes to explore and click on each of the links to see what is available.

Write for your readers and not for the search engines. When writing your articles, it’s important that you prioritize your readers over the search engines. You need to make sure that these people will find your articles well-written and very informative. When this happens, you can easily get them to subscribe to your newsletters or who knows, you can convince them to buy from you.

Ask people who currently come to you for your products or services which words come to mind when they think about what you do. Everyone has a different perspective of what you represent, so be open to hearing what they tell you.

Remember that the keywords have to be related. Search engines have a way of deciphering a main keyword in a sea of unrelated keywords and can mark your article as irrelevant if this happens.

Similarly, the search engines will (on a lesser frequency) check for what’s new on all sites on the net. You may use pingomatic .com once a week to ‘ping’ the spiders so they know you’re generally posting something new every week.

If the other site has bolded, italicized, or underlined keywords, they will rank higher. If not, you could get ahead by doing that on your site. You want to check to see if they use certain images on their site based on keywords. If they don’t, you should be using images and call the file the name of the specific keyword you want to use.

Proper keyword placement and utilization is almost always at the core of any successful internet marketing strategy. Thru the correct implementation of this online marketing technique you will increase your search rankings thereby boosting the awareness of your online presence. Whatever your reasons for being online may be if your looking to boost your traffic this is one of the most effective and fundamental ways to achieve that

Web Marketing Strategy #5: Use Back Links for Your Off Page SEO Marketing

The main goal of a Web Marketing Strategy is generating traffic to your blog or website.  Google is one the main platform used to generate traffic using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or PPC.  SEO is based on a number of factors, such as your targeted keywords, content and back links.  A back links is an anchored text leading back to your blog or website from another blog or website.  It is very important that you are congruent with your keywords. If your article is about German shepherd dogs, then your web or splash pages should be about German shepherd dogs.

Back links are like power juice to your site the more links the better chance that your blog or website will rank on Google. Each back links represent that people like your content and/are sharing it. The only problem is that not all back links are created equal, Google evaluate the strength of the link based on where it originate.  If that was the case then you could just make an unlimited amount of blogs or websites and make a multitude of in bound links.

A forum posts on Betternetworker.com would carry more weight than one from a forum that is a spammer paradise.  Betternetworker has a great reputation for providing great content for its readers.  The more stringent the forum “police” is on spammers the better chance that your back links in the form of your signature file would rank better in Google’s eyes.

There are many different strategies to generate back links and are listed below in no particular order:

1. Buying Links
* irrelevancy possible locations that your links will be placed on, ice cream next to oil for example

2. Directories

* More relevant than buying links because links are placed in your targeted categories

3. Forum posts
* good link juice but poor link quality in spammy forums

4. Blog commenting
* good link juice same issue as Forums

5. Content Swaps
* excellent link juice

6. Article and Content publishing
* good link juice and loses link strength because of blog roll

7. RSS & Social Book Marking

8. Profile pages

9. Web 2.0 properties

The 9 listed methods listed above have different advantages and disadvantages associated with them.  The best method is content swaps with another blogger for instance.  You appear as a guest blogger on his or her blog and he or she does the same thing on your blog.  The blog posts will have each author’s anchor text in bound links in each of them respectively.  This is truly the truest form of link juice that you can receive.

RSS, Social book marking, profile pages and Web 2.0 properties are probably the weakest right now.  It remains to be seen how Google will change the rules regarding Social Media.  Facebook, Twitter and others are growing in leap and bound.  Google can not ignore this trend so empty profiles pages might start effecting your page rank while active participation in these communities will increase your page rank.

The ultimate prize is to generate traffic to your blog or website, but the next task at hand is to convert them to subscribers or business partners.  The next aspect of your Web Marketing Strategy and S.E.O is your on page organization.  The building of back links are more of the off page activities.  The way you have your blog or website set up is the next phase in converting traffic.  The next tip will focus on the on page activities.  Google ranks pages and not website so having the right blend of relevancy is very important.

How much food should I feed my 55 lb, 18 month old female German Shepherd?

We just adopted her, and I think she’s a little underweight. She was in a shelter, and then a rescue organization boarded her. If you have opinions about the best food for her, and other feeding tips, I’d appreciate those, too.

You will get lots of opinions on food, but just think about these rules and you will be OK.

Feed a premium quality, name brand food. Look at the ingredient list. Look for whole ingredients, not a lot of fillers, artificial flavors or preservatives.

Feed one specifically for your type of dog (small dogs should be fed food for small dog, large dogs get large dog food). German Shepherd Dogs tend to have lots of hip and joint problems, so feeding a food specifically for dogs with arthritis or other joint problems will be a great help to her in the long run.

My top brands of dog food are Eagle Pack, Wellness, Nutro, and Royal Canin, but there are many others that are also good. The rule “You get what you pay for” should be in the back of your mind (the cheaper foods tend to be of poorer quality) but there are some exceptions to the rule. She should be on an adult dog food, not puppy. The amount depends on the type of food and her metabolism. Look at the guidelines on the bag of the food that you choose. Usually, feeding whatever is recommended at the lower end of the range for her weight is a good starting point. If she doesn’t finish it all in a short period of time (about 15 minutes) or she’s putting on too much weight, she is getting too much. If she doesn’t put on ANY weight, loses weight or is always acting like she’s starving, she needs more. You can adjust it for her. Just like people, all dogs have different metabolism so you will have to adjust for her specific needs.

Also, remember this. ALL dogs live longer healthier lives if they are kept at a good weight, and dogs with joint problems have a much easier time if they don’t have to lug around a lot of extra weight, so keep her a little on the thin side. Studies have shown that dogs who are kept thin, live an average of 3 years longer than dogs that are allowed to free feed and get fat. You shouldn’t be able to see her ribs, but you should be able to feel them easily without pushing through a layer of fat, she should have a distinct waist (hourglass figure) and her tummy should tuck up, instead of pooch out. If you have any cocnerns about her weight, let her vet take a peek.

Agricola Board Game Review

Agricola is an agricultural farming board game designed by Uwe Rosenberg, in the vein of the German-style strategy board games. Players control a plot of farmland, and compete to create the most balanced farm consisting of various types of vegetables and animals.

Agricola took the gaming world by storm when it was released at the Spiel convention in 2007, and won the Spiel des Jahres award for Best Complex Game in 2008. It has been consistently popular since then, and is still the second most popular board game out there, as measured by the popular board game website BoardGameGeek. It has even managed to take the number one spot away from Puerto Rico for a while.

The objective in Agricola is to build the best and most-balanced farm after 14 turns. You score the most points for having a farm with a big family and sturdy buildings, and efficiently using all your available farmland to plant vegetables and raise animals. This is not quite that simple to achieve however, since you start with just a farmer and his wife, with only a 2-room farmhouse, and there will be other players who are going to try to grab the resources to improve their own farms too!

In the 14 turns of gameplay, there are a number of actions that you can do to grow your farm. You can grab supplies of resources such as wood and clay, and agricultural resources such as vegetables, fish and animals to lay the foundations of your farm. You can also plough and sow your fields, or fence them up, or bake some bread to feed your family. You can also grow your family when the time is right.

Which action you choose (and when you choose it) will ultimately determine how successfully you grow your farm. However, it won’t be possible to choose an action whenever you want it. Once a player has taken a particular action, that action is no longer available till the next turn. So you will need to plan which actions are the most crucial for your strategy and focus on them, and you will also need to be flexible and alter your strategy in case the other players take an action you need. In addition, you can take a number of actions each turn equal to the number of family members you have, so a big family is crucial. But you’ll have to make sure you are able to house and feed those extra kids before you can grow your family.

The resource market in Agricola is also quite interesting. There are actions where you can grab resources such as building materials, food, vegetables and animals. These resources replenish each turn at a set rate, and can pile up if a player doesn’t grab them the previous turn. You could therefore wait for resources to pile up before you use an action to grab them. Or you could do the opposite and monopolize a resource market. For example, you could keep taking all the wood, and by doing so you would prevent the other players from building fences or wooden buildings. (You might also end up having too much wood, but that is beside the point…)

What makes Agricola such a great game is its endless replay value. Besides having the standard actions, each player also gets a random hand of occupations and minor improvements that they can play. These cards provide benefits that will impact how your play. For example, you might have a shepherd occupation that provides you with extra sheep, causing you to change your strategy to make sheep your primary source of food.

These occupation and minor improvement cards also perform another function that makes Agricola a game for everyone. If you want to play it as a family game with children, you can use the easy deck of cards which provides bonuses that are easy to grasp. You can use a more complex deck with more interesting effects for players with more gaming experience. Or you could use an interactive deck where players can benefit from other players’ actions or even steal resources from each other!

As mentioned above, Agricola has such a strong appeal because it can cater for playing groups of varying ages and gaming experience. The game is playable with 1 to 5 players, and games usually take about two hours, providing enough complexity without eating up too much of your time. It appears to be the best farming strategy game currently available, and deserves its spot as one of the most popular board games out there!

Complexity:  4.0/5.0

Playing Time:  2.0 to 2.5 hours

Number of Players:  1 to 5 players

german shepherd education
ive always wanted a dog, but im in full time education?

Hey guys, quick question,

Ive always wanted a dog, a German shepherd or a Labrador. But at the moment im in full time education. If i buy a puppy this summer (at 6-8 weeks old), and train the dog for 2 months, and then get back to school and leaving the dog for 6hour a working day, am i not ready to get a dog?

Thanks guys!
Ofcourse, when coming back home i will give it alot of exercise and taking it for long regular walks, plus on the weekends and holidays.

Six hours isn’t very long. Most people have jobs and with the commute are gone 9-10 hours 5 days a week. It sounds as though the dog will be inside an apartment. In that case a german shepherd or lab is absolutely a bad, bad idea. If you have a yard ,fine. I am not much for inside dogs so maybe someone can clue him in to the good inside dogs?

Basic Dog Facts – Ought To Know! Think Twice When You Get a Dog

Most people like cuddly puppies and grown-up dogs. But before you welcome a new dog into your home, there are some things you need to think through to be sure both you and your new best friend are happy and healthy.

Remember that dogs, no matter what they are today, were predators in the past. Wolves, hyenas, dingoes, and foxes are carnivorous creatures who hunt to survive. Dogs were most likely domesticated from their wolf ancestors from 20,000 to 15,000 years ago. In fact, the many dog breeds have only proliferated in the last 200-300 years. Before that, a few breeds existed to meet their masters’ needs for work.

When you own a dog, remember that the wolf is somewhere in there hiding. Depending on its breed and the way you treat it, that wolf could surprise you with a quick snip or a more vicious attack. Careful selection and training of your dog will assure that your best friend remains a best friend.

Before you select a dog, do your homework. Become familiar with dog breeds and personality traits, and compare these to your personal reasons for having a dog. Do you want a cute, cuddly friend to dress up and carry around? Do you want a champion at dog agility competitions or a champion show dog? Do you want a companion for your children? Or do you want a body guard and home protector? Do you need support to cope with a disability?

Each breed has characteristics that indicate what your life with your new friend will be like. If you aren’t very patient or don’t like a lot of noise, you probably shouldn’t adopt a small, energetic dog with lots of demands for attention. If you want an affectionate loyal companion, you might want to consider a Golden or Labrador Retriever or a Collie. If you want to protect your property, you might take a look at a German Shepherd, a Rottweiler, or a Doberman Pincher.

If your household includes young children, your choice should be a careful one. Your new dog will have to be patient and tolerate with kindness having its tail pulled, being jumped on, and engaged in wrestling for hours on end. Bulldogs, American Eskimo dogs, Beagles, Retrievers, Setters, Sheepdogs, and many Terriers are among the many breeds good with children.

Want a dog you can dress up and put in cute clothes? Then look for a dog that has plenty of hair (for those fancy hair-dos) and is small enough to carry around. “Designer dogs” like Poodles, Yorkies and Westies, Bichon Frises, Pomeranians, and the more exotic Shih Tzu are excellent candidates for this.

If you’re looking for protection, be sure to look at breeds that aren’t too friendly to strangers. Great Danes are huge and intimidating, but they’re likely to fall in love with the first burglar they meet! Bulldogs are another breed that look fierce but come out kissing. German Shepherds are probably the most familiar and trainable guard dogs. Other breeds also protect your home and family: Rottweilers, Boxers, Doberman Pinchers, and Giant Schnauzers are among them.

There are a few breeds that were created for their ferociousness. Rottweilers and Pit Bull Terriers are notorious for vicious attacks. So if you are considering these breeds, you must be very clear about what to expect and very careful in training a well-behaved dog.

When you decide to bring a dog into your home, you need to be educated about what you need, what you want, and what breed will most likely fulfill your goals. When you adopt a dog, you are adding a member to your family – one for which you will be responsible for a lifetime. You should be committed to working through all the behavioral and training kinks and providing a stable, loving home. You’ll not only have to train your dog, but you’ll have to be trained in how to handle that dog.

A final note: Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, says, “There are no bad dogs. Only bad dog owners.” No matter what breed you bring into your home, in the end, you are the one responsible for your dog’s behavior. Learn all you can about the dog you hope to own, and learn all you can about yourself as a pack leader. Even the feared Pit Bull is a sweet loving dog in the right hands.

No matter what breed you think you want, you should know about the specific dog’s parentage, personal history, and temperament before making the commitment to be his lifetime caretaker and friend.

german shepherd stuff
why does my german shepherd puke so much?

he pukes things up whole sometimes, and sometimes not. hes mostly on dog food but sometimes he gets a lil people food. hes 8, would it be that his stomach just cant handle stuff anymore?

A vet check is in order.

It could be as simple as he wolfs things down and his stomach can’t handle it, so it comes back up so he can chew it more thoroughly.

BUT…it could be there is a medical problem. The sooner medical issues are caught, the easier they are treated. And the cheaper it is on your wallet!

Call your vet first thing in the am and schedule an appointment.

A Detailed Private Niche Empire Review

Having been involved in Internet Marketing for some time now, I can tell you that one of the best ways to make money online is to focus your efforts on one or more niche markets. A market like “dog training” has vast amounts of search traffic, but is too broad to market to effectively.

A niche in the dog training market like “house training german shepherds,” on the other hand, has much smaller traffic, but is a space where you can effectively market and compete. As a result, your chances of making money in the relatively small niche of house training german shepherds are much higher than in the huge dog training market. If you can build a private niche empire of many sites, each targeting its own niche, you can make serious money online.

That said, there’s still a lot of work involved in niche marketing. You need to find a hot niche, identify the keywords potential customers are searching for, build a website that targets the niche while promoting the products you want to sell, get your site found and ranked highly by the search engines, and promote the site to get traffic to it. Most aspiring Internet Marketers don’t know how to do all of this stuff well enough to succeed. Even if you are one of the skilled ones who does know how to do all this, would actually doing the grunt work be the best use of your time? Don’t you have better things to do than muck around doing keyword research and designing web pages?

Can Private Niche Empire Help?

Private Niche Empire, a new subscription service from Ellery Coleman, is designed to address this issue. Would it be worthwhile to you to have someone else to do most of the work of setting up a niche marketing site for you for a reasonable fee? I can think of two reasons why it might be. First, by letting an experienced team do all the technical work for you, you don’t have to learn how to do all this stuff yourself. Second, paying the Private Niche Empire team to do all this frees you to do other stuff, whether that’s working on a different aspect of your business, or sipping a pina colada as you watch the waves roll in on some tropical beach.

Ellery has assembled an experienced team to create each niche website, and has spent significant amounts of time and energy testing the service to ensure that it gives solid results. They can definitely deliver the goods.

Unlike other similar services, this one severely restricts the number of people who will receive each website. Only 125 marketers worldwide will get access to their own version of each site. And when you consider that many of those will fail to actually follow through and actually publish their site, or will drop out of the program all together, the number of copies of each site that actually go live will be even smaller. Because the Empire team customizes the content for each site, you can be confident that your site will be unique.

Each month, subscribers receive not one or two, but 10 niche websites to add to their personal empire. Each site comes with 20 custom-written articles that are restricted to be used only on these niche websites (that’s 200 unique articles per month!). All this fresh content is exactly what the search engines are looking for and will help your site to rank high quickly.
To further improve your results, each site includes a self-promoting RSS feed that automatically and randomly pings search engines and bookmarks your pages, so your sites appear more unique and natural to the search engines.

Does Private Niche Empire Work?

It’s too soon after launch to report on the actual results of the first wave of customers. However, I can tell you that the beta testers are reporting that they can earn about $50 per day, from each site. With 10 sites, that comes out to a potential of $500 per day! That seems like a pretty good start for your online empire to me.
