german shepherd czech puppies Are Czech German Shepherd good puppies?
Would a Czech German Shepherd make a good family dog? Are they aggressive in anyway?
Any German Shepherd has the potential to be aggressive, as does any other dog. It all depends on how they are trained, socialized, and the situations they are put into. A German Shepherd puppy from Czech lines is going to have a great amount of drive. These dogs need something to do, they need a job. You would need to know how to direct all of that drive in a positive way. The puppy would need a lot of training and exercise. If the puppy does not get the training/exercise it needs, it will become bored and find something to do (probably not something you are going to want him to be doing).
I would suggest that you do more research and decide if your family is ready and capable of handling a dog with high drive. If you still want a German Shepherd, but decide dog from Czech lines would not suit your family, do more research on the different lines of German Shepherds. German lines overall are going to have more drive than American lines will.
german shepherd siberian husky German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, or Alaskan Malamute?
This dog will not be my first and I am aware of each of their temperaments. I would just like some suggestions and why. Thank you.
As an Alaskan Malamute owner I would choose a German Shepherd. yes, the huskies are beautiful, but they require much more grooming. All the dogs are intelligent, but the Malamutes are very willful and harder to train. My Malamute is very good with children and small dogs, but she may be more of an exception than the rule. I have had a very difficult time keeping my Malamute confined because she can (and will) scale any heighth of wall just to run. She does always know her way back home though (I have heard Siberians also have this need to escape, but can’t find their way back home). All require exercise, but the Malamute needs a lot more than a Shepherd. All in all I think the German Shepherds are more eager to please and don’t have that compelling drive to run and cover territory like the huskies.
Common Dog Breed Mixers For Those Cute Designer Dogs
You’ve hear about dogs who are a cross between to pure breed dogs? If you don’t know what a Designer Dog is exactly then this article What You Get When You Get A Designer Dogis must read. For now let’s look at a few of the most common designer dogs that you can find living all over the world and you may be surprised at some of these mixes. Please don’t try this at home, breeding designer dogs is a serious undertaking, far more complicated than paring two purebred dogs together to see what you get. An educated breeder goes to great lengths to ensure a healthy designer dog. These names alone will have you laughing today, after all it is hard to even say words like Goldendoodles and Pekeapoos without smiling. Here are just a few of the designer dogs (hybrids) the American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes and I will give a description for a few.
Labradoodles = Labrador Retrievers + Poodles The Labradoodle design really started it all, and they are very irresistible. Vice President Biden, Jennifer Aniston has one, and Tiger Woods has two. Created in the late 1980’s by a Veterinary for a friend that was allergic to dogs, they secret less dander than other breeds. Because of the breed cross you never know what kind of coat you will get, there are three kinds; straight, fleece that is wavy, and wool which is the curliest. Labradoodles need room to run, they need things to do. Easy to train but needs help to focus, easy to groom, and make great family dogs.
Goldendoodles = Golden Retrievers + Poodles The Goldendoodles are happy, fluffy, and energetic. They are very popular I believe is contributed to their adorable features. Developed in the mid 1990’s the smart Poodle and the loving behavior of the Golden Retriever. Their coat can be very flat like the Retriever or very wavy, or the tightly curled poodle coat. The Goldendoodles less skin dander than most dogs. They come in a variety of colors, and most are medium size with males weighting 50 to 80lbs.but there is a mini version when the Golden Retriever is breed with a Toy Poodle. Both the breeds that the Goldendoodles come from are very trainable and great with children.
Chiweenie = Chihuahuas + Dachshund Developed Chiweenie is a Mexican Hotdog they tend to be very expressive a charming trait this sweet little mix has. The Chiweenie designer dog was developed in the late 1990’s to help minimize back problems in the Dachshund. A longer lower Chihuahua, with those big bat like ears. Cute with big ears that like to sunbath. The Chiweenie’s are known for easy training but start early to prevent the yapping that the mix is predisposition for. -
Chorkie = Yorkshire Terrier + Chihuahua The Chorkie started popping up in the 90’s. The Chorkie can take on multi characteristics of their parents, they can have a shorter coat or longer coat like the Yorkie. Chorkie’s are very small yet in most cases have a Napoléon complex. Chorkie’s have the loud nature of both breeds, they love to yap. But their fiery nature makes them get watch dogs. They have very sympatric eyes that have a distinct black line around them and it is a enduring quality. There small size make them an ideal apartment door.
Cockapoos (Cockerpoos or Spoodles) = Cocker Spaniels + Poodles The Cockapoo is a sweet designer dog who has been around since 1960’s in the US. They are said to resemble our little childhood hero Benji. All colors and combinations are acceptable for this little designer dog but kinky curls is not. The Cockapoo’s nonshedding coat should instead be straight, wavy, or loosely curly. They come in all different sizes the toy weighting less than 12 pounds and the maxi weighting more than 19 pounds. No matter what the size you will most certainly have a loyal, intelligent, and friendly designer dog.
Puggles = Pug + Beagles One of the top three designer dogs according to Animal Planet. You have that slightly smoochie face with the floopy ears, one loving companion. They have an amazing sense of smell from their Beagle parent, so when you take them out they are going to smell everything. Pugs like to bark and Beagles like to howl, so the Puggles do both. The Puggle is considered a lap dog. They have a really short coat that is easy to groom. The Puggle can be black or multicolored, they resemble a Mastiff. The Puggle has lots of energy and love their families.
Maltipoos = Maltese + Poodle The Maltipoo is a beautiful soft and fluffy designer dog, with a low shedding coat that comes in a variety of colors. The little designer dog weights in at 5 and 12 pounds, but this pint size dog has the heart of a lion. This little dog loves attention and will most generously devote himself to his or her family whole heartedly. The Malitpoo is known to be great with children.
Yorkipoos = Yorkshire Terrier + Poodle Yorkipoos are fairly new to the designer dog world but are gaining popularity all the time. The are little dogs standing only 7 to 12 inches tall and weight 4 to 15 pounds. Like so many other designer dogs they have a low allergenic coat. The smooth coat is silky and wavy and comes in a variety of colors. The Yorkipoo is spunky and very socialable and known to be a quicker learner than their parent purebred Yorkshire Terrier. They just seem to love learning and pleasing their families.

german shepherd working dogs How old do you have to be to learn shultzen dog training. Are there better dogs than German shepherd dogs?
Where do you buy good German shepherd dogs for working and how much are they? Are there schools that let 15yr olds learn about training dogs or do you wait until you graduate?
That you have to ask proves that you are not yet a candidate.
The first step is to actually TRAIN a dog – of any breed – to a competitive level. Doesn’t matter whether the competition is Agility or Companion Trials or Obedience Tests or Tracking – each has its peculiarities, but what they do is demonstrate whether you have the patience & consistency required, plus the observational ability required to interpret a dog’s behaviour and know when to teach, when to command, when to distract.
For DogSport itself, the first step is obtain a calm, intelligent-trainable, agile pooch – weakness of character will eliminate it from the “courage” section, weakness of body will eliminate it form the physical section, weakness of intelligence/trainability will eliminate it from just about everything in the 3 sections. Basically, unless both its parents have Breed Survey Classification (BS.Cl.1 or 2 in English, KKl.I or II in German), a litter’s chances of producing correct GSDs with HGH and SchutzHund potential are small.
The second step is to join a DogSport club and obtain BH (BegleiterHund) with your pet – see http://www.worldclassgsd.com/Schutzhund/BH_Schutzhund.htm
Only after that – and after your dog’s body has matured enough (usually 15-18 months old) will you be allowed to start on the advanced mental & physical activities – see http://germanshepherddog.com/schutzhund/index.htm – but there are many confidence-building and reliability-improving activities that can be used before that.
Now wash your filthy mouth out with battery acid! As if there could POSSIBLY be a better dog than a GSD!
However, the GSD is not intended to be the best at much – being “The Best” requires exaggeration of particular shapes & qualities that suit that ONE thing. You don’t expect to see a tennis champion being also a boxing champion and a weightlifting champion and a pole-vault champion. The GSD is intended to be a specialist at the boundary patrolling method of sheep tending, and one of the 3 or 4 best at just about everything else. Its only rival is the Belgian Shepherd Dog – not surprising, seeing as both breeds were developed at the same time (1891-1911) to perform the same tasks on opposite sides of the River Maas! Sadly, show-is-all and pet-is-all breeders have been focussing on ruining the GSD for much longer than they have been trying to ruin the BSD – especially in Britain, Canada, the USofA. But in both breeds you will find excellence and you will find unworthy crap.
To ask your GSD questions, join some of the 400+ YahooGroups dedicated to various aspects of living with GSDs. Each group’s Home page tells you which aspects they like to discuss, and how active they are. Unlike YA, they are set up so that you can have an ongoing discussion with follow-up questions for clarification. Most allow you to include photos.

Top Five Expert Pointers In Training German Shepherd Dogs
Training German shepherd dogs, sometimes called Alsatians, entails the trainer’s dedication and patience aside from hard work. This breed of canine is among the most robust and active ones. They crave for German shepherd training because they demand for something to occupy their minds and to keep them going.
Now, is training German shepherd dogs difficult? The answer is no. It really does not have to be difficult as long as you are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills. Otherwise, it may take you longer to accomplish the tasks. However, with every successful German shepherd training comes a good guard dog, a reliable police investigation dog, and most importantly, a loving pet to his human family.
To guide you in training German shepherd dogs, here are five simple pointers you should know.
Pointer one: Early onset of training German shepherd dogs
The first thing you have to consider in training German shepherd puppies is to set up some rules and plan strategies even before you decide to own the animal. There is a greater chance of a successful training when started as soon as it reaches home.
This means that adequate information on how to deal with and care for this dog breed is a must! Remember that a German shepherd puppy brought up in a good home is much easier to train than in an uncaring background.
Pointer two: Act as a top dog!
Establish yourself as a leader while training German shepherd dogs. This type of canines are strong willed, pack dogs. In the forest, they follow an Alpha dog that leads them on their way. At home, they consider their human family as their masters.
Be consistent and firm with your commands. Your Shepherd dog must have a clear understanding on what you want him to do. Teach him in an area where there are no distractions to keep him focused at all times.
German shepherds are less likely to accept constantly changing rules since this will just confuse them. If you do not assert yourself as your Shepherd’s boss, he will do everything on his own way.
Pointer three: Social training German shepherd dogs
Early socialization should also be integrated when training German shepherd puppies. During puppyhood, take your German shepherd for a walk in different places to allow him opportunities to meet new people. This way, he will be able to differentiate what is a threat and what is not.
As an owner, you would want your German shepherd dog to behave well in public, since he can be distrustful to strangers. Therefore, it is vital to expose him to a new environment, new people, and new animal friends. His interaction will help mold his personality. However, teach him not to jump on others in excitement.
Pointer four: Obedience training German shepherd dogs
German shepherd obedience training includes basic lessons on how to sit, stay, run, and fetch. As soon as he turns four months old, you may take your Shepherd puppy to obedience training school and make sure that it is reputable to ensure that you do not waste any time and effort. This is a perfect venue for him to be dealt with professional dog trainers and to mingle with a large number of canines and humans.
Once he completes his German shepherd obedience training module, he is, then, ready to attend in guard dog classes once in a while. In this institution, he will be instructed guarding techniques and sooner, he will have the ability to protect your home from harm.
Pointer five: Leash training German shepherd dogs
German shepherd dogs can gain huge pounds as they grow up. Hence, German shepherd leash training is an effective way to control their behavior considering their heavy mass. This method teaches your German shepherd puppy to walk well while on a leash.
Choose the right collar for your Shepherd puppy. It should not be too tight to avoid strangulation nor too loose so he cannot easily escape. While walking, make sure that you are ahead of him all the time so he would recognize you as his leader.
With proper knowledge and commitment, training German shepherd dogs is not hard at all owing to the fact that they have outstanding intelligence and they are able to learn throughout their entire life.

Six Solutions To Block German Shepherd Biting Problems For Good
Fixing German shepherd biting issues is something that owners should be knowledgeable of and give their full attention. German shepherd dogs are dynamic and large-sized breeds, hence, their handlers must provide appropriate measures in protecting themselves while in close contact with these canines.
German shepherds are smart and versatile dogs. German shepherd biting issues need to be resolved as early as possible before it’s too late. However, the entire process may take weeks or even months before the desired results are achieved since German shepherds cannot automatically learn house lessons.
While German Shepherd biting may occur naturally as part of growth and development, unfortunately, its source can also be German shepherd aggression. Fear, pain and strange sights may trigger him to do this particular behavior. On the flipside, there are several solutions to this alarming issue.
Six Solutions To Block German Shepherd Biting Problems For Good:
First solution: Obtain detailed information regarding German shepherd dogs before deciding to own one. Take note that each and ever dog breed has its own particulars and it is not safe to assume that one method is applicable to another kind. Therefore, you should have a pre-planned German shepherd training strategies to alleviate German shepherd biting issues right before you bring your new Shepherd puppy home.
This type of breed, however, is not suitable for novice raisers due to the high demands that come with it. They have certain mental and physical requirements to keep their body and mind always on the go.
Second solution: During the first days of the German shepherd’s existence in this world, he is kept under his mother’s custody, together with his siblings. It is through them that he primarily learns about a handful of things such as food hunting and self-defense. This is also the period of time when he first learns about the concept of socialization and German shepherd biting inhibition.
Owing to the fact that Shepherd dogs are social beings just like humans, they should also be provided interactive opportunities from time to time. At the age of ten weeks old, he is already receptive to new things and changes in the environment. A good German shepherd obedience training school is a perfect venue for him to communicate and mingle with a number of new canine friends.
Third solution: Let your German shepherd puppy stay in a place where he would feel comfortable and secured. Fear, which develops between 7 to 15 weeks of age, is the main cause why German shepherd biting happens, whether due to a sight of a strange person, animal, or any object that he perceives as a threat.
If you happen to have small pets around the house such as canaries and hamsters, it is best to introduce them to your Shepherd puppy early on to get him acclimated to them. This is also a way for him not to treat such animals as his prey.
When the German shepherd is fearful with other children riding bicycles, get him attuned to them. Allow him to watch them as they play but never let him go near them.
Fourth solution: Act as an Alpha dog. German shepherds need a leader to make them feel protected. In the wild, dogs come in packs with their top dog to guide them. Since you are now the leader in your home, your Shepherd puppy will look up to you as his protector from any harm, thus making him feel safe.
Moreover, having a leader to look after German shepherds help them to become tame, especially when anxiety attacks. You should give consistent commands. If he starts to German shepherd chew or bite your hand, tell him to stop in a loud yet relaxed voice.
Fifth solution: Positive reinforcement is proven to be the most effective tool to motivate your German shepherd dogs to follow your directions. This is also true with most dog breeds. As soon as your German shepherd puppy quits German shepherd biting furniture or any object, shower him with praises and surprise him with his favorite food.
Rewards can be in the form of treats and non-material ways such as bringing him to a long afternoon walk and playing interactive games with him.
If you have tried all of the solutions above yet did not change the disturbing German shepherd biting behavior at all, seeking professional help from a veterinarian or an expert dog trainer is highly recommended.

german shepherd czech lines Where is a GSD website that talks about the lines?
I find it hard to explain the difference between the lines like Czech lines, German lines, American lines, and most of all, show lines, since both German and American have them… Its hard to explain to people that German show lines are about like American show lines because they assume since the German shepherd was originally from Germany they think that they are healthier but what it comes down to is that they both are unhealthy they just have different body builds… People will say “you wont find those angular backs in the German lines!”, not true, I have seen it myself!
ANYWAY, I need a website or something, even a book that talks about the lines would be great…

I have a Czechoslovakian/German line working German Shepherd. He’s bigger than standard Shepherds and has a straight back (instead of the sloped Americanized dog). Is there anyone I can send information too that can judge his worthiness for breeding?
He’s our families best friend and I was told by the breeder when we bought him that he might be a great show dog (she had several trophies with the mother), but we don’t live near her anymore.

german shepherd bite How do I gett my German Shepherd to stop biting?
I just got a german shepherd recently he is 3 months old
but he really likes to bite even when i try to pet him he goes for my hand or my leg how can I stop him from doing that?
yea i signed him up for training classes on the military base so hopefully he loses that habit cuz its bad
THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE ADVICE!
You know, I used to have the same problem. When my GSD was younger, his teeth were sharper. I did want to play with him and sometimes I even wore my old welding gloves. 90 percent of the problem he naturally grew out of. He’s a year old now. Sometimes he wants to play rough and I don’t mind if he’s mouthy. He’s pretty careful about not biting hard.
But sometimes, mainly when he was a puppy, he bit hard and didn’t want to stop. I tried putting bitter apple spray on my hands as well as tobacco sauce. Those worked, but only to a limited extent.
My ultimate solution was spraying a mist of vodka in his face from a cheap plastic spray bottle. I chose vodka because it is cheap, doesn’t smell to bad, and doesn’t stain our carpet. Before any of you animal rights advocates go ballistic, I would first say “NO” and give Alex a chance to calm down. I would physically remove him from the room. If he came back to me and tried to bite, I would hold the spray bottle in plain view and say “Alex! No!” If he bit me again, I would spray him, trying to aim for his mouth. Alex was a quick learner. I believe that I sprayed him somewhere between 4-6 times in his life. After that, I only held the spray bottle in front of him, and he would stop the behavior. Then I would praise him with petting and give him a food treat.
However, what I found was that if the spray bottle was not visible in the living room, he would often bit me. He needed to know that it was there. Sometimes all I needed to do was point at it.
Top Five Secrets Why German Shepherd Works Now!
German shepherd clicker training is a modern technique for dog training that emphasizes on teaching German shepherds proper etiquette. In this method, trainers charge the clicker by repeatedly clicking followed by giving a treat at once. Through this, the German shepherd links the sound with a reward and encourages him to do well.
In German shepherd clicker training, the trainer uses the clicking device every time the German shepherd displays a positive attitude or obeys a command. Once he recognizes what a click means, it signals his readiness to learn new behaviors. This method of positive reinforcement may be used to train German shepherds basic tricks such as sit, heel, down, and stay.
German shepherd clicker training may not be the best option for some trainers because this process requires good timing. They must click at the exact moment that the behavior is seen. However, many still do this because it does not necessitate any physical force. So, it is easy to use in large doge breeds like German shepherds. . This article will reveal to you the five secrets why German shepherd clicker training works efficiently:
Secret one:
One major advantage of German shepherd clicker training is that it strengthens the dog-owner relationship as well as the communication with each other. German shepherd dogs that undergo this method are absolutely pain-free. Unlike any other discipline oriented training system that brings punishment when doing the wrong thing.
German shepherd puppies will try to experiment different things in the hope that they will find the behavior that brings a reward. They can behave well even without the use of any cruel training measures.
Secret two:
German shepherd clicker training is effective because German shepherd dogs are eager to please their owners. This means that they are willing to work on the training procedures. Also, they will enjoy the reward, praises and attention that are given to them during the training sessions.
Before the German shepherd clicker training is initiated, you must load your pocket with treats and prepare yourself with clicker. You should always be ready anywhere you and your German shepherd dog go. You must be able to click the clicker as quickly as possible so that the right action will be identified before rewarding it.
Secret three:
Positive reinforcement should always be present in German shepherd clicker training. This is a major factor in growing a good guard dog and house dog in the future. This also allows you to focus on the good behavior rather than the bad ones. You will be able to foster the preferred attitudes more rapidly than waiting for the negative ones to appear before correcting them.
German shepherd dogs that are well trained can sometimes become mischievous. When a treat is not being offered, they may do everything as they please. Because German shepherd clicker training does not focus on how to deal with misbehavior, you have to know how to deal with a bad conduct without undoing the positive training methods.
Secret four:
German shepherd dogs can learn complicated behavior patterns through German shepherd clicker training. Say for instance, if your want your canine to jump through a hoop, you may click even when he is just walking up to the hoop and then, give him a treat. Repeat this technique until the Shepherd dog will eventually be able to jump through a hoop.
As the German shepherd dog learns a new trick to gain a reward, his attitude will be shaped in a positive manner and will strive to do better.
Secret five:
What is interesting about German shepherd clicker training is that it is fun, easy and cheap that even children can be great clicker trainers. Treats do not necessarily have to be costly. A piece of toast will do.
The clicker strategy is effective and dog-friendly. It does not involve harsh punishment. Aside from that, the German shepherd’s mind will be stimulated and helps to avoid German shepherd aggression such as German shepherd biting and German shepherd jumping on other people.
With the right German shepherd clicker training methods, your German shepherd will certainly learn how to respond to hand signal and verbal cues in the long run. This is guaranteed safe not only for German shepherd dogs but to other canine breeds as well.

german shepherd ddr What specificallly is a DDR German Shepherd Dog?
A figment of the imagination nowadays.
Also a sales gimmick to attract macho idiots (the sort who like to claim “I’m the only one who can control my dog!” – right uo to when they discover that they CAN’T control their dog….)
The history in brief:
After the allied armies reached Berlin near the end of WW2, Germany was divided up between the allied powers – a quarter each to Britain, France, the USofA, the USSR – as was Berlin itself. The USSR controlled the eastern sector of Germany, and set up what Sir Winston Churchill called an “Iron Curtain”. As Berlin was entirely within the eastern section (known as the DDR), that meant that there was no access to the allied sectors of Berlin, except through Soviet territory. And when the Soviets decided to close the roads & railway in & out of west Berlin (as a reprisal for one of the many disputes between the Soviet politicians and the “western allies” politicians) the allies had to resort to FLYING all supplies – food, fuel, clothing, materials – in to west Berlin’s citizens!
And in 1961 the Soviets constructed the Berlin Wall to ensure that spies couldn’t sneak from west Berlin into East Germany, and that citizens of the DDR couldn’t sneak into west Berlin and then fly to West Germany (known as the FDR – or was it the DFR?).
The mentor of one of my New York State pen-friends was one of the few who managed to escape from the DDR to West Germany (he had been warned that the police were about to conscript him & his dog for police dog work) – AND he managed to take his herding dog with him!
Because
(1) when the Soviet army reached Germany it was desperate for food, and so the soldiers killed & ate most of the dogs they found, and
(2) the DDR was totally cut off from the rest of Europe and so its blood-lines were isolated from the Siegers-etc,
over the decades the attitude & behaviour & shape of the DDR dogs differed somewhat from the dogs in West Germany (although not as much as the GSDs in NAmerica differ from the GSDs in Europe & South America).
But it all ended when the Soviets left Germany, and the citizens of Berlin dismantled the Berlin Wall in November 1989.
http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=Berlin++wall+falls&meta=&btnG=Google+Search will link you to plenty of information & videos to improve your awareness of the world.
For some purposes, the DDR stock (which was mainly bred to guard prisoners & military establishments – owning big pets was not something common in the DDR after the Soviets stripped as much equipment-etc as they could from the conquered territory) became superior to the other European GSDs, but for other purposes they became inferior. When the Berlin Wall was finally dismantled and the Soviets drove out of Germany, most breeders of DDR dogs enthusiastically mated their bitches to the top western GSDs, to “update” their type.
The best DDR-line GSDs are VERY intelligent, full of initiative. But many of them are reputed to be what would, in a human, be regarded as “dull” & “sullen”, needing to be bullied into performing. And others are totally unforgiving of poor handling, instantly biting a handler who abuses them.
So you REALLY need to know the actual animals in the pedigree if you are thinking of obtaining a GSD from what used to be DDR lines.

Where can I buy a German Shepherd (DDR) in Sydney?
I really want to have a German Shepherd dog, And it’s from working line. There are so many GSD here but they all from show line. Any one can give me a suggestion?
Look up Schutzshep kennels in Australia. You might have to import a DDR dog if you can not find one in your country.
german shepherd insurance how much would it cost to make a dog fence for a german shepherd?
shes about full grown and i was about to get rid of her (didnt want to) and i couldnt so i was wondering how i could make her life better without having to put that much money out. im only 16 and i cant find a job at the moment so i dont have much money because i have car insurance to pay for
they sell those like chain link things the call Kennels but i think as long as you took the dog on regular walks it could live in there if it had cover or a dog house but i think you are looking at around $200 for the actual thing and maybe $100 for a cover but you could always make something or use a dog house.
here is link to kind of what i was thinking of unfortunately they don’t have a price but i have seen them in stores for around $200
you could always look a garage sells for people who are trying to sell one. that’s how we go the one we had and that is also how we got rid of the one like this.
good luck hope you can keep your dog
Top Dog Insurance – Discover the Factors Influencing Coverage & Premiums
Your pet is your best friend, and you will do anything to help him when he is injured or ill. Searching for the best top dog insurance is not too hard if you know what you are looking for. You need to make sure you are getting the best policy to meet all your needs. Pet insurance is not all the same – there are specific circumstances that must be considered before purchasing a policy. Just like human health insurance you want to shop around for the best prices and most coverage you can get for one low price.
One thing to check into when looking for a good top dog insurance policy is the age restrictions the company might have for your animal. Many companies do not write policies for dogs 9 years old or older. Senior dog policies may be offered by some companies, but they are more expensive with less coverage. Insurance premiums go up as the pet gets older just like it does for human health insurance. Elderly dogs usually have more serious health problems which can jack up the cost of the premium. On the other hand, many companies do not offer insurance unless the puppy is at least 8 weeks old.
Another limiting factor is the state you live in. Some top dog insurance policies are applicable only in certain states. You will have limited choices if you reside in a remote state like Alaska. Also some states such as Massachusetts impose a lot of regulations on insurance companies, and that may also limit your choices. Some insurance packages have restrictions based on the breed of your dog. Pure bred dogs typically have a higher risk for a particular disease or genetic condition. For example, German Shepherd Dogs are known to develop hip dysplasia as they age which can cost a lot to treat. Furthermore, breeds that are deemed to be dangerous may not qualify for insurance.
All top dog insurance companies try to minimize their risks in order to stay profitable. They do provide a fair amount of health coverage, but they try to exclude more expensive illnesses such as cancer treatments. Each pet is different and your dog may have different considerations than another dog. Be sure to read the fine print so you will know exactly what coverage you are getting.

Worming advice: How often should you worm your cat, dog, puppy or kitten?
My female German shepherd turns two years old oct 8th and really want to get her hips certified (OFA) How much would that cost I just want ideas not to ask my vet i live in the u.s
—CERF Testing Clinics sometimes offer this test for as little as $20.
-
—Canine Eye Registration Foundation – Genetic eye problems are common in almost all breeds of dogs. A CERF test is performed by a certified veterinary opthalmologist. During the test, the vet looks for approximately 25 different heritable eye defects. A CERF rating of “Normal” means that no signs of any of the defects were found.
—OFA Certification Clinics sometimes offer these tests for as little as $60-$70- Orthopedic Foundation for Animals – Hip Dysplasia (aka degenerative joint disease) is another common genetic disease found in most breeds of dogs. OFA certification involves having a veterinarian take x-rays of the dogs hip joints. The x-ray is then sent to OFA for evaluation and the dog is given a “grade”. OFA grades of Excellent, Good, and Fair are all considered normal, non-dysplastic grades. OFA certification can not be done until a dog is 2 years old.
Hope i helped=]
Is it a good idea to let a german shepherd play frisbee?
Well, you see…..I introduced my german shepherd to the frisbee about a month ago and he became really good at it surprisingly fast. He leaps in the air to catch it and everything! The problem is, I know that German Shepherds are prone to hip dysplasia. My dog was OFA certified (if it matters), but I don’t want to do anything that can physically harm my dog later, even if that means taking away something he loves to do. So is it a bad idea.
He is a german working line german shepherd….
everything in moderation … when playing frisbee don’t make the dog jump in the air to catch every one, throw a few grounders too :O) a man at the doggie park told me his golden retriever had hip surgery due to problems that resulted from fetching the ball as the dog would chase the ball and then put on the brakes to get it which damaged the dogs hip joints … but he did admit he played fetch daily for at least an hour which is not moderation … play frisbee but just do other things too
