German Shepherd Biting

german shepherd biting leash?
my 7 month old german shepherd keeps bitting my leash like tug war when walking why does it bite it
at seven months, puppies start to figure out their social structure. he will either learn that he can do what he wants and be dominant; or be properly trained to be a happy submissive pup.
your puppy might think its a game; in which you need to train him that it is definantly not. some states require that all dogs be on a leash for the protection of your community and the animals. now your puppy might be playing OR it might be displaying aggression because he does not like the leash.
this type of training you can do that will be successful with patience and consistency.
associate the leash with something he really likes; example: treats! when you put the leash on him, simply give him a treat. when you walk with him try not to tempt him with a lot of slack on the leash. wrap the extra around your hand so that he is unable to bite it. always reward him for the desired behavior, which is ignoring the leash. slowly you will be able to give him more slack (i would wait a few months..) keep in mind that you are walking the dog; and not the other way around. teach your dog that it is okay to walk beside, or behind you; not infront. this will also help him realize who really is the alpha dog.. which should be you.
i dont recommend spraying foul smells on the leash, as you want your dog to enjoy your walks and not be discouraged by the smell. their nose is deff more sensitive than ours!

My German shepherd has been licking, biting under his paws?
My german shepherd has always licked his paws a lot, and kind of gnawed on them. However, I just looked closely at them, and if you push up the fur under his soles, his skin is red. I’m wondering if this is because of his biting and licking, I’ve heard it might be allergies. But he doesn’t do anything else or have any sores, he is a very happy dog. Is it maybe just a weird habit or something? I feed him Alpo.
It could very well be allergies because you’re feeding him a really terrible food! Read the label for yourself and you’ll see. Please consider changing his food to one that has meat as the first ingredient – among the better brands are Canidae, Solid Gold, Innova, Timberwolf Organics, Wellness, just to name a few.
It could also be partly irritation caused by salt and sand if you live in a cold climate where roads and sidewalks are sanded and/or salted. You need to wash off his paws every time he comes home from a walk.
But if he’s licking and gnawing them, I’d guess it’s probably allergies and he needs help.

Dogs Bite: But Balloons and Slippers Are More Dangerous $9.00 Dogs are dangerous. And they are more dangerous to children than to adults. Not as dangerous of course, as kitchen utensils, drapery cords, five-gallon water buckets, horses, or cows. Not nearly as dangerous as playground equipment, swimming pools, skateboards, or bikes. And not remotely as dangerous as family, friends, guns, or cars. Heres the reality. Dogs almost never kill people. A child… |
