Is my dog handsome enough to be in media? (pics)?
This is my 6m old Siberian Husky/ German Shepherd mix. I’ve always thought he was very handsome (and still do). I’d like to get him into calendars and magazines, maybe even a commercial. He’s very smart and well trained, so i know he’d cooperate. but beauty wise, do you think he has a chance? it’s okay i don’t mind if you think he’s ugly either, everyone has an opinion.
(I don’t do photoshop so the pics might not be awesome.)

Plot
Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) is a divorced father and ad executive with a young son, Charlie. On Christmas Eve, Charlie comes over to spend the night with Scott before going back to his mother’s for Christmas Day. That night, they are awakened by a clatter on the roof. Going outside to investigate, Scott can see someone on the roof. He yells at the trespasser, which causes the man to lose his balance and fall to his death. The trespasser appears to be Santa Claus.
He magically disappears, but his suit remains. They find a letter in a pocket stating that if something should happen to him, someone should put on the suit, and the reindeer will know what to do. They find a sleigh and eight reindeer perched atop the house. Scott puts on the Santa suit to please Charlie, and begins delivering toys from rooftop to rooftop.
Their final stop is the North Pole. The head Elf, Bernard (David Krumholtz), shows him a tiny inscription on the card which says that, upon the death of the previous occupant, whoever wears the suit assumes the identity of Santa Claus and all the responsibilities that go with it. This is the “Santa Clause,” as stated by Bernard: “You put on the suit, you’re the big guy.” He also gives Charlie a snow globe. Then, he meets an elf named Judy who tells Scott that he only has eleven months, until the next Thanksgiving to get his affairs in order before becoming Santa Claus full time, which he tries to refuse. Charlie and he spend the night at the factory. The next morning they awake back in Scott’s home, where the only indication of their previous night’s adventure is Scott’s new silk pajamas with “SC” (Santa Claus) monogrammed on them. Scott dismisses it all as a dream.
Soon, however, Scott starts gaining weight and his boss Mr. Whittle (Peter Boyle) likens him to the Pillsbury Doughboy. He develops a ravenous taste for Christmas treats, like Christmas cookies and hot cocoa. He grows a long gray beard, and shaving it off has no effect; it regrows instantly. His hair whitens, despite all attempts to dye it. He somehow knows who has been “naughty” and “nice”. Children (who somehow know he’s Santa despite Scott not dressing like Santa) approach him with gift requests. Scott’s rapid transformation worries his ex-wife Laura (Wendy Crewson) and her new husband, psychiatrist Dr. Neil Miller (Judge Reinhold), who try to terminate his visitation rights to Charlie. They question Scott’s mental stability, and believe that Scott’s changes are attempts at getting his son to like him.
Eventually, Scott’s visitation rights to Charlie are taken away. Disheartened, Scott begins to lose some of his certainty about his job as Santa. While visiting Charlie on Thanksgiving, Charlie’s insistence that Scott is Santa re-awakens Scott’s magic and he, with Bernard’s help, whisks Charlie away to the North Pole. Laura and Neil, who think Scott has kidnapped Charlie against his will, call the police, who make a massive investigation.
Meanwhile, at the North Pole, Charlie helps Scott and the elves perfect a new sled and communication devices. He calls occasionally, but this only reinforces Laura and Neil’s belief that he is being held against his will. Eventually, Scott, as Santa Claus, goes on with his Christmas Eve trip, but is arrested while delivering presents to his son’s home, and is accused of kidnapping Charlie. A team of rescue-elves, the ELFS, free Scott from jail by tying up the front desk guard, and fly Scott and Charlie home to his mother and stepfather, to whom Scott/Santa gives the presents they always wanted since childhood but never got: Laura gets a vintage Mystery Date game and Neil gets an Oscar Mayer “Wienie Whistle”. (It was because of them not getting these presents that they became convinced Santa didn’t exist.)
Laura, realizing finally that Scott really is the new Santa, tosses the custody papers into the fireplace and welcomes Scott to come see Charlie any time he wants. Bernard tells Charlie that the snow globe is magic. Anytime he wants his father to visit, all he has to do is shake it. After ten minutes, he shakes it and Scott comes back, says he was off to Cleveland, and takes Charlie with him.

Sequels
The popularity of the film spawned two related sequels, The Santa Clause 2 in 2002 and Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006. Much of the character cast remains the same for each film, but with some additions.
In The Santa Clause 2, Tim Allen as Santa has been declared to be the best Claus ever, but with his son on the naughty list and the work becoming more hectic, Santa learns he must find a suitable wife or give up his duties as Santa Claus.
In The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, the North Pole and its holiday operation is threatened by the villainous Jack Frost (Martin Short), who plans to take over Christmas.

funny german shepherd stories
I’m getting a German Shepherd puppy today does anyone have any German Shepherd stories about the dog?
Stories about how loyal/smart the dog is? Funny stories?
well my German Shepard attacked a burglar that came through our front door. He left blood everywhere she attacked him so hard. she never would attack anyone that wasnt a threat.
once she was growling randomly in the middle of the night. I opened the door, she ran outside and started barking at thin air. or so i thought. then i backed up and I heard her barking and another animal hissing. then they fought for about two minutes. I ran inside to get a flash light and when i came back out, there was a dead bobcat laying in my driveway. Thats how loyal she was to me. she wouldnt let anything hurt me.

Paranormal Activity 2 proves that a horror movie sequel can be better than the original as long as the story is intelligent and the acting is good. The writers here were up to the task as this movie is the best horror movie sequel ever made.
This movie had all the markings of being nothing more than a money-grab by Paramount Pictures. It was a sequel to a stunningly popular low-budget movie, and it came out barely a year after the original. Add to that the fact that the “gimmick” of the first movie was already widely known, so it couldn’t possibly be effective the second time through. I was pleasantly proved wrong.
Paranormal Activity 2 is a classic horror movie that can stand on its own merits … meaning that you don’t have to have seen the first Paranormal Activity to enjoy this film. But for those that have seen the first movie, this is a fantastic companion piece in that it further fleshes out events from that movie. And in one startling plot twist actually expands upon the reason for all that happened.
The story depicted in Paranormal Activity 2 occurs 2 months prior to the events of Paranormal Activity 1. This “prequel” ties into and dovetails brilliantly into the first movie. This time the plot centers around the family of Katie’s (from the first film, again played by Katie Featherston) sister Kristi Rey. The family includes Kristi’s husband Dan, their newborn son Hunter, Dan’s daughter Ali (from a previous marriage), the nanny/housekeeper Martine and their loyal German Shepherd Abby.
The movie begins with Kristi and Dan brining their newborn son Hunter home from the hospital. Their home is just around the corner from where Katie and her husband Micah live in Paranormal Activity 1. As first time parents the video camera is constantly on.
=======================================================================
Watch Paranormal Activity 2 for free and see a great new horror flick.
=======================================================================
One day the family comes home to find the house ransacked. Items in every room have been tossed about and turned upside down. Every room except baby Hunter’s … which was left untouched. In addition not a single item was taken from the house. It doesn’t appear that it was a robbery.
This event prompts the parents to install a fill blown, always-on security camera system in the house. Five “motion detector” equipped cameras are placed in strategically located places around the home …one in the entryway, two in the kitchen, one overlooking the pool and one in the nursery. Every night after the family goes to bed the audience cycles through all 5 cameras. Nothing happens on camera in those first few nights.
Gradually during the days Kristi begins to experience some funny, then strange occurrences … doors opening and closing on their own …. window shades suddenly snapping up …. pots falling off hooks, etc. Her husband Dan is skeptical even though he can see these events played back on camera. He offers up logical reasons to explain these occurrences. Before too long things begin happening that are not so easy to explain away.
Then suddenly one evening something is captured on one of the security cameras while the family is sleeping. It happens quickly and then it’s over. But it definitely occurred. Then the next night something else occurs that we the audience can see, but which is unknown to the sleeping family.
Director Todd Williams and writer Michael R. Perry then begin our decent into the world of terror. Each night the audience finds themselves scanning all four corners of each security camera, looking for the next happening. We watch as the “pranks” slowly turn from mischievous to worrisome to horrific.
Paranormal Activity 2 is reminiscent of the 1975 movie Jaws in that in the beginning much of the chills occur off screen, such as the family dog growling at something out of site, or the baby Hunter seeming to stare at something in the room that no one else can see. The danger of the situation is initially only hinted at.
Then the safety of the daylight hours is shattered in a devastating way, and all heck breaks loose.
Paranormal Activity 2 is a well made, well acted horror movie that is sure to have audiences talking about the violent and terrifying ending for years to come.

german shepherd bull terrier mix
Adopting another dog…..?
I currently own a one and a half year old spayed American Pit Bull Terrier, she has met other dogs at Pet stores and she gets along fine with them, and she also lives with a spayed Pomeranian. Tomorrow i am getting a 9 week old female Doberman/Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix. I am somewhat nervous as she has never lived with another large dog before, but she has had other large dogs come to my house and she did fine with them. Should i be worried? And how should i introduce them?
BTW, the shelter i’m adopting the pup from doesn’t allow any one to bring their dogs to meet the dog at the shelter.
And yes, she has been socialized with many dogs, she never once showed any type of aggression.
“Should i be worried?”
- No. Should you be cautious? Yes; you should take every possible precaution to make sure that they get along. But worried? No. You don’t want to be nervous, anxious, or worried. If you are, then the dogs will pick up on it! You want to be calm, relaxed and in control. Yes, there might be some problems that arise, but on the other hand, they might get along perfectly well. So, you should be prepared to handle prospective problems (such as jealousy), but you shouldn’t be nervously anticipating them. Just go with the flow; if there’s a problem, then you can deal with it then.
“And how should i introduce them?”
- Here’s how:

What is the best canoe for 2 dogs and 2 people?
I have a soft coated wheaten terrier (around 70 lbs) and a German shepherd pit bull mix (around 50 lbs) and want to be able to take them with my husband and myself when we go canoing.
You need a 17 or 18 foot canoe. Aluminium or fiberglass/resin depening on the river environment. A river without rocks – aluminum. Boulders and rocks – fiberglass/resin. It needs to be stable as the dogs will be jumping out. Plastic canoes will be too flexible. Buy a canoe/klayak magazine and read their reviews.

How can I socialize a 1 year old german shepherd?
My 1 year old german shepherd just tried to bite the neighbor boy who came into our yard. I am VERY bothered by this! We have three small children of our own that can do anything to him. This boy however has never been introduced to the dog and started running away from him as my dog approached him. My dog jumped on him and bit his glasses. How can I make SURE this doesn’t happen again? I love my dog very much but cannot have this happen to guests!
Maybe training? German shepards are a territorial breed and if he didnt know the boy he was tresspassing. Plus running away is not a good thing to do with any dog. I have a GS foster and sometimes he loves other fosters but I have had a few he HATED and had to pen him up to keep him from fighting them. The neighbor child also needs to be told how to act around others dogs. just because it seems friendly with its “own children” doesnt mean it can be approached or will welcome him into the yard. I dont know what kind of dogs your other neighbors own but some breeds can be more aggressive and the outcome can be ugly. you may have to seperate your GS from visitors if you are worried how he may act?

If you’re not yet part of the 39 percent of U.S. households that own at least one dog, but are planning to become one among them, you sure need to be appreciated for your conscious choice. Because dogs make one of the best pets we can ever have. But of course, there are dog as well as cat lovers, and opinions might vary. Nearly 76 million dogs have found a home in the U.S., from being totally pampered precious family member to highly trained bomb and drug sniffers, dogs have come a long way from the days of being a gray wolf, largely due to the human connection and the breeding patterns. And as the hunter/gatherers’ livelihood needs diversified, and depending on the geography of the region, he brought different breeds into his flock. As the hunters/gathers continued their travels, their dogs bred with native dogs of the lands they passed and that marked the beginning of the many different breeds of dogs that we see today.
Today there are so many different breed of dogs that a person wising to own one will be spoilt with abundance of choice. The German Shepherd is one dog that is a good choice for families that intend to own a dog as a pet. German shepherds were originally used as watchdogs and guard dogs, but they make great dogs for companionship. German shepherds make loyal, intelligent and protective pets, and are tolerant of small children. Their strong personalities, demand a strong, assertive owner and adequate space for them to run around.
Labrador Retriever, as they are known as are great for active families that love the outdoors. Labs need daily physical and mental challenges or they can get bored. They also like to be around their family, and do not do well left alone for long periods. Chihuahuas, toy terriers, miniature pinchers, and other small breeds also make good family pets. And they like to be pampered. So buy your small dog a small dog bed, and dress him up with
designer dog clothes
and a luxury dog collar so that he or she doesn’t miss out on what are the norms of the day. Today it is rare to see pets not living in pampered comforts, courtesy the dog loving owners. What ever breed of dog you own it is necessary that you give your pet dog enough space and comforts, as is necessary. With the winter just around the corner it is a good idea to get your dog few
designer dog clothes
that will keep them warm through the winter, a luxury dog collar, so that he stays protected in the event of a fight and a small dog bed to keep them warm during the cold winter nights. To deal with outdoor winter temperatures during your morning or evening walk with the dog, it may be advised to find some designer dog clothes to keep him warm and especially so, if it is a shorthaired or hairless dog. A small dog bed, designer dog clothes and a luxury dog collar, are the least you could do to make your dog feel like a prized family possession and pet. There are many types of beds to make your dog comfortable. And they come in colors and patterns to match your decor. There are designer beds, orthopedic beds, beds that cool in summer and warm in winter, nesting beds just to name a few. Whichever one you and your dog choose, try to purchase a bed that is easily cleaned. Many beds and cushions have removable covers that are machine-washable.

german shepherd wolf mix
o.k kind of the same question as before….?
since everyone seems to be against a wolf mixed with either a malimute or a siberian husky.( they say to much energy, and it won’t listen to you) what about a wolf/german shepherd mix? anyone have any experiance with those? what are the ups/downs to owning one? I know GSDs can be very loyal obediant dogs.
here is a link the my other question.

A wolf hybrid of any sort is asking for TROUBLE. Our ancestors took the thousands of years to domesticate wolf/wild dogs because they were unreliable and would revert to the wild behavior!!!
Wolves are less social, more fearful, and much more aggressive than dogs and because of this most areas in the United States have restrictions on wolf hybrids.
A wild animal is a wild animal -period! Ask Roy of Sigfried and Roy. He raised, trained, and slept with his tigers. They are as CLOSE as can be and yet he was attacked by one of his own. It is still undetermined as to why this happened and he is the first one to say that he does NOT blame the animal (because he understands that they allow him to be part of the pride and although he generally is the leader of the pride he is always aware that they are wild animals first and his friends second).

Can i get a 6 week old wolf and german shepherd mix to act like a normal dog?
I am getting a wolf and german shepherd puppy mix and i just wanted to know how big is it and can i raise it to be like a normal dog. Please answer this question whenever you can thanks!
I had a Timber Wolf/Chow mix for 17 years. She was the best, most loving pet I have ever had. I now have a 7 month old Arctic Wolf/Alaskan Husky mix. From having wolf hybrids, I would advise to make sure to study wolf characteristics. That way when their nature comes out you understand why they do what they do. Both of mine were extremely playful. They are very territorial. Star, my first one only let two males around her her entire life. One she had been raised around and the other I brought home and he was very sick for awhile until I nursed him back to health. I think she understood that and kind of mothered him. They are very protective. Star never barked, but she was vocal about things when she wanted to be. Tidus, the one I have now is very vocal. Both, when about to attack never growled. Their only warning is the fur on their back stands up. They do love to dig and can jump very high. Don’t count on your average fence to keep them in the yard. If you are just going to chain them to a dog box or put them in a kennel I don’t recommend this kind of pet. Hell, I don’t recommend any pet because what is the point of having an animal to make it spend its life caged or chained? But back on point, the one thing that was told to me when I got my first one was never feed it raw meet. It’s not going to make them instantly insane or anything but there is no reason to tempt the taste for blood. Star was a hunter, if anything got in our yard it didn’t usually make it out. She also attacked a few of the neighbors dogs who came into our yard. Star got to be about 150 lbs. Tidus, I think will be much larger. At 7 months he is already as tall as I am when he stands on his hind legs. I have included a good link for you to read before you decide. Wolf/hybrids are a lot of work but to me, well worth it in the end. If you have a busy lifestyle and not a lot of time to train your pet, I would recommend something else. They take work and dedication. Good luck with your choice.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier CROSS German Shepherd?
Has anyone owned one? Can anyone direct me to a picture of one as an adult? I’ve put a deposit down on a lovely male pup this morning, but it has the weirdest combination of parents in history!! Mum is a very small Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Dad is the BIGGEST German Shepherd I have ever seen in my life!!!! (I’ve grown up with them all my life, so know the breed well). The pups are what I’d call medium-large, but they don’t really look like mum or dad – facially or colouring wise, so I’m just trying to ask anyone with experience in this particular cross, how big they might be and whether they’ll take on mum or dad’s genetics, re hair type, build, size etc.
Here are some profiles of German Shepherd, SBT crosses

German Shepherd with an abnormal leg problem?
Ok, here is a brief medical history. The dog is a 4 year old female, weighs about 90lbs, takes allergy steroids daily (I know this will probably reduce the lifespan, but it is to increase the quality of life), and is basically completely fine most of the time. But when it squatted once to urinate, it’s hind legs were shaking (as if they couldn’t support the dog’s weight). And it had seemed weaker on it’s hind legs the night before. But about two days later it was noticably improved, and within a week it’s legs were fine again. I was thinking they were just sore or something, but it happend again about a month later, with a similar recovery rate. I thought it was too young for hip dysplasia, should I be worried or take it to the vet?
Called the vet and I’ll be bringing her in tomorrow afternoon to check up on things and see how to address the problem.
I would think its from lieing on a hard floor or arthritis.Id say that aspirin is great for arthritis in a dog but please ask your vet first because I dont know if your dog is on other meds or not & aspirin has to be given according to the weight of the dog.And use buffered aspirin with food.Older dogs should have salt cut from the diet,,there are dog foods that dont contain salt but if you change the diet,,do so slowly by mixing the new with the old until you taper off of the old food.Rice & boiled boneless meat is great dogfood also.(chicken,,liver,,burger,,and must be completely cooled.)Cats cannot have aspirin~is a toxin to them. Please take your dog to the vet to rule out other medical problems.
